Last Wednesday was "Dia de la madre" in Nicaragua, the occasion for most families to come together and celebrate. My host family and I went out to a nice little restaurant in Granada. The place was completely packed and it was clear that Mother's day plays an important role in Nicaraguan culture. Even the older sister Carmen came back from Managua, the capital, to celebrate with the family.
